An intimate orchestral number, ‘Shiny Thing’ is a song about admiring someone brand new and 'shiny'.

“To me this song always felt like it sat out of the conventional. I wrote it from a little vocal diddy that I’d been humming as I moved through the house cleaning and then built chords around it, not usually my go to songwriting style. I had a bit of a sweetness towards someone I had recently met and the lyrics just came out as this quiet observation of someone that I thought was quite wonderful and capable of doing no wrong. Which was completely untrue, but when you’re in that head space I think you’re self esteem takes a hit and you start mulling the idea that you may not be good enough for them”
